Pool News

June 2, 2020

Dear Pool Members,

I hope you and your families are well and looking forward to Summer and a return to more of the activities we all love.

Thursday’s good news that our county has moved into Phase 2 of the Governor’s Safe Start Plan couldn’t have arrived at a better time. The sunshine this week is a great reminder of the months we all wait for, and we truly appreciate your continued patience under the current COVID-19 restrictions.

As we look forward to successfully moving ahead to Phase 3 and reopening The Pool to our members, we want to share what the process will look like and some exciting updates for the months ahead.

Under the Governor’s plan for reopening, Kitsap County may be eligible to move into Phase 3 by the end of June. For The Pool at Pleasant Beach, this means we will be eligible to reopen at 50% capacity. We will be able to accommodate up to 50 people including staff at a time, to ensure proper safety, and the ability to continue to observe important social distancing guidelines. We will also be adhering to the Center for Disease Control guidelines regarding COVID-19 and water.

In the meantime, we encourage you and your family to explore some of the exciting changes around the Village including delicious Pleasant Beach Donuts in The Marketplace, and Island Cool Frozen Yogurt’s new curbside takeout. We will continue to hold your monthly membership fees at $25 plus-tax until we are able to reopen The Pool, and Pool Bar & Patio.

More communication will be forthcoming, as we approach our reopening.  In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you back very soon!

Dear Pool Members,

I hope this email finds you well.

Like everyone else, we continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 very closely. At this stage it is difficult to know how long this crisis will last, and we are very conscious of the possibility that we may have to delay the opening of the pool if it proves necessary. There are currently no plans to do so, but we will watch developments very closely and update members as we get closer to Memorial Day weekend.

We are also keenly aware of the toll this crisis is taking on families with school cancellations, social distancing, and the destabilizing effect of general economic turbulence, as well as the primary effect of the virus itself on those who might get it or know someone who does. In light of these uncertainties and in sympathy with the challenges imposed on everyone at the moment, we have made the decision to reduce monthly fees to $25 per membership for the duration of this crisis. The monthly fee will revert to normal only when the pool reopens. There’s enough stress and confusion out there at the moment, and we hope this will ensure that your pool membership is not a source of either.

It’s not all dire of course, and we will soon be able to share some very exciting news of an incredible new off-season feature we are working on for members that I can’t wait to tell you about, but that’s still a few weeks away.  In the meantime, stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you all when the sounds of kids splashing in the pool and warm summer sunshine return again soon.
